Technical Editing Services

Be it socks, shawls or sweaters a good tech edit will ensure that your knitting pattern works on all levels. I will check through every single row of your pattern for technical accuracy, consistency in format and for any important missing details -  it's easy to overlook information which the  knitter needs. I will ensure that your pattern can be knitted and that the finished piece will be as you, the designer, intended. 

A standard tech edit includes the following checks:

Do the numbers work - stitches, rows, increases, decreases?

Do written and charted instructions match and make sense?

Are all pattern requirements and instructions clear and complete?

Do the instructions match the size(s) and 'ease' given? 

If you are a new designer having your pattern looked through by a technical editor can give you the confidence that your pattern will be as perfect as possible and help build customer loyalty in your designs. As an established designer you may want to maintain high standards and free up your own time for other elements of your business.

I am happy to edit to a house style or work with you to develop one in order to maintain your own personal voice across your pattern portfolio. In addition,  I can grade and size garment patterns to assist you with your design process.
